Safe & Sacred Training
The link listed will take you directly to the Safe & Sacred.
On February 21, 2018, Archbishop Thompson has asked that ALL people who work or volunteer in our parishes and archdiocese complete Safe & Sacred and a background check every five years. This means if you sing in the choir, lector at Mass, work at the Festival, help with the Bingo, etc. you will now need to complete Safe & Sacred and have a background check.
I understand that this feels like overkill for some, but it is all in the best interest of our communities and for protecting our children. We want as many adults as possible to be trained in how to recognize and report inappropriate behavior and harmful situations. This is exactly what the online Safe & Sacred certification teaches. Every three years, refresher courses are required to keep us updated and watchful.
In the end, it is a system which is meant to protect our children in a broader scope. Your participation is greatly appreciated as we seek to safeguard our children with a firmer watch throughout the archdiocese.
In the meantime, if you volunteer or work for our parish but know that you have NOT completed the archdiocese Safe & Sacred program or had a background check in the past 3 years, please contact Carla Hertel or Donna Weekley in the parish office at firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com or 765-647-5462 to get more information about how you complete these necessary archdiocesan requirements. If you know that you have not completed the program in the past you can begin the process by clicking on the link at the top of this message.
I thank you for your support and doing your part to make our parishes and archdiocese a safer environment for God's children.
